New Jazz Radio Show: LISTEN HERE features Ross Clowser, 9/29
Central Iowa is home to many talented up and coming jazz musicians. It’s also home to Abe Goldstien, one of the Midwest’s best known jazz advocates. KFMG Radio will bring them together beginning on Sunday, September 29, with a new jazz radio show called Listen Here.
According to KFMG Station Manager Ron Sorenson, the new program is the brainchild of Goldstien, who hosts two other jazz shows on the station, Straight No Chaser, Sundays from 5p-7p, and Jazz Gumbo, Sundays from 7p-9p. “Abe is always interested in hearing what younger jazz fans are listening to and he’s always more than ready to tell them what they should be listening to.” explains Sorenson. “That’s what this show is all about — a time for the old to listen to the young and the young to listen to the old!”
The first program in this series will air on Sunday, September 29 from 7 to 9 pm, in the Jazz Gumbo time slot, and features Ross Clowser, a senior at Waukee High School. Ross has been playing jazz guitar since the age of 10 and is this year’s recipient of the Bobby Dawson Award from the Community Jazz Center of Greater Des Moines.
Listen Here will be broadcast on the last Sunday of every month and will introduce listeners to Des Moines’ next generation of jazz musicians and the music that inspires them.
