Rose Marie Webster

Born in Kansas City to the late Reverend Ernest and Madghe Gaiters, rose Marie acquired a strong gospel style, singing at a very early age.
In her 20’s, Rose Marie decided to pursue a career performing jazz and blues. She worked for 15 years with the late Seymour Gray. Local jazz fans will remember Rose Marie from years of performing at The Sepia Club, the White Shutter Inn, Tony’s Lounge, Basin Street and Ernie’s Urban Lounge.

In past years Rose Marie participated in Jazz In July, Women in Jazz and numerous other community events. In addition, she accompanied the chorus at Corinthian Baptist Church for 28 years and was the funeral home pianist for Estes and Son for 10 years.  Rose died on December 23, 2006 at the age of 72.
